Nations Championship | Tryfest on day one of Nations Championship

Rugby's inaugural Nations Championship kicked off in spectacular fashion when New Zealand just pipped France 34-32 in a tryfest in Christchurch, New Zealand.

In Sydney, Australia, it was pretty much the same script as Ireland held on for a narrow 33-31 victory over Australia.

In other matches in the 12-team tournament, featuring northern and southern hemisphere teams, Japan beat Italy 27-10.
