Wildfires spread across Spain, France and Portugal after extreme heat

Thousands of firefighters are battling wildfires across Spain, France and Portugal as extreme heat and strong winds fuel fast-moving blazes.

The fires have forced evacuations, closed roads and prompted thousands of residents and tourists to leave affected areas. Authorities warn that the wildfire season is only beginning, while the World Meteorological Organization says rising temperatures are increasing the risk of more destructive fires across Europe.
