Electricity Tariff Hikes | Consumers face higher household costs

July doesn't only mark the beginning of a new municipal financial yea, it also brings higher electricity bills for millions of South Africans.

Municipal customers are now paying, on average, around 9% more for electricity, following tariff increases approved by the energy regulator.

For many households already stretched by rising food prices, transport costs and interest rates, the latest increase isn't simply another adjustment, it's another difficult decision between keeping the lights on, and meeting other essential household expenses.
