Gaza war echoes through Cannes as Palestinian filmmakers raise voices

At the Cannes Film Festival, Palestinian filmmakers and international stars are using the platform to speak out on the war in Gaza. Palestinian director Rakan Mayasi premiered his first feature film, which faced interruptions from Israeli bombing during filming in Lebanon. Spanish actor Javier Bardem called the situation in Gaza a genocide, whilst filmmaker Mohammed Alshareef, unable to leave Gaza despite an invitation, presented his documentary remotely. The festival has become a stage for highlighting the conflict's impact on Palestinian voices and cinema.
