ICASA | New phone number recycling and deactivation rules: Catherine Mushi

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has gazetted new rules on number recycling and when mobile providers can deactivate unused numbers, taking effect in January 2027. A mobile number is now considered inactive if it has no "revenue-generating activity" for 90 days. That includes calls, SMS or data.
