AI and beyond: China math wiz Yu Deng

What's really behind AI? Mathematics: linear algebra, calculus, probability, optimization, information theory – they're the engine. But something fascinating is happening in reverse. AI is now becoming a powerful tool for discovering and solving mathematics. So, if AI is changing how maths is done, what does the future hold for human mathematicians? On this, CGTN's Tian Wei spoke with Yu Deng, recipient of the 2026 Fields Medal – often described as the Nobel Prize of mathematics.
