China's ecological vegetation quality hits 2nd-best level on record, new meteorological report shows

China's vegetation quality hit its second-highest level on record in 2025, with an ecological index of 69.1 – 6.6% above average. The northern sand barrier saw striking greening, while vegetation along the Yellow River improved sharply, with some areas gaining over 0.75 percentage points annually.

Only 2024's exceptional conditions ranked higher, according to the new meteorological report.#coolchina
