Iran warns vessels to use approved Hormuz routes or face forceful response

Iran has warned again of a forceful response if oil tankers deviate from approved routes when transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has also cautioned against "US interference" in the waterway, which it considers a threat to national sovereignty. This comes even as Washington and Tehran hailed progress after indirect negotiations in Doha. The next meeting will take place after a six-day funeral for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the first round of US-Israeli strikes that triggered the war in February.
