SARS filing season opens

SARS filing season opens, with taxpayers now able to start submitting claims and returns.

Led by newly appointed Commissioner Johnston Makhubu, this year's campaign centres heavily on a digital-first, seamless approach to reduce human intervention and physical queuing.

Taxpayers will be notified by SMS or email and can check their status online. SARS says the system is now designed to improve accuracy, cut delays and reduce the need for physical visits.

SARS says the move is part of a wider drive to make filing simpler and more user-friendly.
