FIFA World Cup | Africa announces itself on global stage

African football has announced itself on the global stage. Nine of the 10 countries at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the Americas have advanced to the round of 32 -- the second most of the sevens continents. Only Europe with 13 nations represented, has more team in the second round. Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria were confirmed as qualifiers after the last round of group matches. All three finished third in their respective groups, while Tunisia was the only country eliminated.
