A group of proactive young people in Kopela Village near Delareyville in North West, have taken an initiative by establishing an environmental club.
Batlhago Environmental Club from the Tswaing Local Municipality established in 2021 is committed to maintaining cleanliness across their village and it was formed to teach young people about the importance of keeping their environment clean.
While unemployment dominates headlines, this group of more than 20 young people wake up every morning to work voluntarily.
They have different stations, schools and a community hall, where they clean and then plant vegetables, which once harvested are given back to those schools and struggling families in the village.
