Scientists and engineers announced major progress on two key superconducting magnets for fusion reactors in Hefei on Saturday. The 582-tonne Toroidal Field (TF) superconducting magnet, the world's largest for fusion reactors, passed an expert review. Another key component, the high-temperature superconducting central solenoid coil, completed full-condition testing with internationally leading performance. Developers said the breakthroughs strengthen China's fusion reactor development and engineering capabilities.
