25-year-old man’s body retrieved from Vaal River in NC

The body of a 25- year- old Malawian man who drowned in the Vaal River near Douglas in the Northern Cape has been retrieved.

The deceased, who was employed at a farm in Douglas, was among five farm workers who drowned when their makeshift boat capsized in the river last week.

The boat carried twenty farm workers from the Vaallus Farm across the river to their place of employment at Olierivier Farm.

Fourteen farm workers survived while six drowned.

Five farm workers will be buried this coming weekend.
