World Drug Day | Call for urgent action on drug abuse and dealers

Substance abuse continues to devastate families and communities across South Africa, fuelling crime, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Femicide, and mental health challenges.

As the country marks the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is also known as World Drug Day, government is ramping up efforts to tackle the growing crisis, particularly among young people.

SABC News visited Soweto, where a new state-funded treatment centre has been launched to expand access to rehabilitation services.
