Venezuela declares state of emergency following powerful twin earthquakes

The death toll in Venezeula has reached at least 920, with almost 3,000 injured, after twin earthquakes devastated Caracas and surrounding areas.

Foreign rescue teams and aid continues to pour into the country; hundreds remain trapped and over 50,000 people are reported missing, amid fears that the death toll could reach thousands.

The magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck about 160 km west of Caracas on Wednesday evening, followed less than a minute later, by a magnitude 7.5 tremor, the strongest since 1900, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
