Immigration Tensions | Concerns over foreign academics at SA universities

The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training has raised concerns over the growing reliance on foreign academics, particularly at professorial level within some of South Africa's public universities, despite years of state investment in developing local academic capacity.

This follows a briefing by the Department of Higher Education and Training on updated data covering the employment of foreign academics across the country's 26 public universities and TVET colleges.
