Bafana Bafana secured a historic 1-0 victory over South Korea at Estadio Monterrey, marking their first-ever advancement to the knockout round of the FIFA World Cup.

The match saw Thapelo Maseko score the crucial goal in the 63rd minute, which propelled South Africa to four points and second place in Group A.

Mexico finished top of Group A, after beating Czechia 3-0 in a simultaneous fixture on Thursday.

Bafana will play in the first fixture of the round of 32, against World Cup co-hosts Canada at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday.
