* The South African National Taxi Association SANTACO has called on all its members not to participate in next Tuesday's nationwide protest action. SANTACO hosted a joint press briefing with the national commissioner of Police this evening. The two parties committed to ensuring commuter safety on June 30th.

* The number of municipalities with clean audits has declined while the number of municipalities with unqualified audit opinions with findings has increased. That's according to the findings of the Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke on municipal audits for the 2024/25 financial year.

* Police say they will be working with private security companies to strengthen their operations for the 30th of June, when nationwide protest action is expected with protest leaders vowing that there will be no violence. Meanwhile the Home Affairs Department has processed over 8900 Malawian nationals at a temporary repatriation centre in Durban where they have sought refuge.

* A BOSA candidate was shot dead, and another injured in Gugulethu during voter registration weekend. Three other political candidates in Cape Town were killed on Saturday evening. The violence has raised concerns over the election period later this year.

* Bafana Bafana will have their work cut out when they face South Korea in a do or die clash at the FIFA World Cup in the early hours of tomorrow. The match will start at three in the morning, South African time. A win for Bafana will put them in a good position to potentially advance to the next round of the tournament.
