Andy Burnham will likely be next British PM by mid-July, says analyst

British lawmaker Andy Burnham said on Monday (Jun 22) that he will stand to replace Keir Starmer as Prime Minister and Labour Party leader, a day after Starmer announced his resignation. Burnham, who was recently sworn in as a Member of Parliament for Makerfield, is widely seen as a frontrunner to succeed Starmer. The outgoing leader will remain in office until a successor is chosen, with reports saying Britain could have a new prime minister in less than a month if no challenger emerges.
