Karoo farmers target global pistachio market

Farmers in the Karoo are on a mission to turn South Africa into the fourth largest exporter of pistachio in the next decade.

Prieska and Upington farmers in Northern Cape have invested sizeable amounts of capital into the pistachio industry.

Prieska farmers are already exporting 20 tons of pistachio, and aim to produce over 60-000 tons in the next 10 years.
