Some 1,500 couples got married in Nigeria’s northern Kano State at a mass wedding ceremony organized by the governor. Although authorities described the two-day event as an initiative to support low-income families, the publicly-funded wedding had a political overtone as the country prepares for elections next year. #dwcurrentaffairs
