November LGE | IEC records 2,9m voter transactions

The IEC says the participation of citizens in its Voter Registration Weekend, reaffirms South Africans' strong commitment to electoral participation. The commission adds that it is encouraged by the positive response of the youth to the registration drive. The IEC recorded 2.9 million transactions, an improvement over the 1.7 million on the first voter registration weekend before the last local government elections in 2021. The electoral body has encourage those registered to check and update their personal details.
