LGE 2026 | IEC reports smooth registration weekend nationwide

IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says the voter registration weekend in all provences has proceeded smoothly, with no major operational challenges reported.

Despite some logistical setbacks experienced on the first day, officials say all voting stations opened on time today, while early indications point to strong public participation.

Mamabolo says the commission is encouraged by the response, particularly from young voters, and is expecting to release the latest registration figures on Monday.
