The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported 956 confirmed Ebola cases, while neighboring Uganda has confirmed 19 infections. The outbreak is centered in Ituri province, where the vast majority of cases have been recorded. At least 245 people have died, and health officials continue to investigate hundreds of suspected infections. The current outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain, for which no approved vaccine or treatment exists.
