DA candidate and NMB councillor assassinations highlight rising political violence: Analyst

In the Western Cape, police say detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are investigating the murder of a DA by-election ward candidate in Dunoon in Cape Town, last night.

Sinovuyo Dyokwe was gunned down on her way home from a voter registration venue.

Meanwhile, the IEC in the Eastern Cape says the shooting of the Nelson Mandela Bay councillor Saturday night has a negative impact on the democratic process.

The Provincial Electoral Officer, Kayakazi Magudumana, also expressed her condolences to the family of Sicelo Mleve who was shot dead in his ward office while in a meeting with some community members.
