The final day of the two-day Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC)'s Nationwide Voter Registration Weekend is underway, with voting stations open across the country.
The IEC says the two-day drive is aimed at strengthening participation in the electoral process, and is particularly encouraging young and first-time voters to ensure they are correctly captured on the voters' roll
Voting stations have been open since 8 am this morning and will remain open until 5pm this evening, marking the last opportunity for citizens to take part in the electoral process.
We now cross to SABC News Reporter, Nomvuyo Ntanjana who is at a voting station servicing voters in the Ward 68 of the City of Johannesburg, near the Zamimpilo informal settlement.
