These efforts have resulted in new opportunities in design, manufacturing, and export within the defence sector. In 2014, India’s total defence production was around ₹40,000 crore, which has now increased significantly to nearly ₹180,000 crore. Similarly, defence exports have grown remarkably—from about ₹700 crore in 2014 to nearly ₹40,000 crore today, with Indian-made defence equipment reaching over 80 countries. This journey of self-reliance is still in its early stages, but the progress over the last 12 years shows that clear policy and collective effort can drive major national transformation: PM Narendra Modi
