Tanzania leads in lion, buffalo populations

Tanzania has emerged as Africa's leading wildlife nation after a new national census found the country has the continent's largest populations of lions and buffalo.

Officials say Tanzania is now home to about 17,200 lions - the highest number recorded in Africa - while South Africa ranks second with just over 3,200.
