Voter Registration | More than 160 000 transactions processed from 2892 Gauteng voter stations

As voter registration weekend continues across the country, turnout at some registration stations appears slower than many may have anticipated.

At Joubert Park in Johannesburg's inner city, IEC officials remain on site and registration facilities are fully operational, but voter numbers remain relatively low this afternoon.

In contrast, daily life in the park continues uninterrupted.

Residents are spending time in the park, others are passing through on their way to and from the city centre, while a group of regular chess players are gathered around their boards as they do on most weekends.
