Youth Month Discussion | Why are young South Africans still fighting for economic inclusion?

On Tuesday South Africa marked exactly 50 years since the historic June 16, 1976 uprising, a defining moment in our country's struggle for freedom and justice.

While the youth of 1976 fought against political oppression, today's generation faces a different challenge: economic exclusion, unemployment, and inequality.

This year's commemoration theme is "RESET@50 – The Future Calls", with the slogan "Our National Commitment to the Future, for Freedom Lives in Every Generation", and is further anchored by the focus "Mapping the Barriers: Auditing Access for Economic Inclusion", prompting an important conversation about whether South Africa's young people have truly gained access to meaningful opportunities five decades later.
