Voter Registration | Soweto voters encourage youth to register

The Independent Electoral Commission's (IEC) nationwide voter registration weekend is underway across the country, with voting stations opening their doors to eligible citizens to register for the first time, update their details, or check their registration status ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

The two-day drive is aimed at strengthening participation in the electoral process, particularly encouraging young and first-time voters to ensure they are correctly captured on the voters' roll.

Voting stations opened at 8 o'clock this morning and will remain operational until 5 o'clock this afternoon, with a second registration opportunity continuing tomorrow.
