Vance says Carney tried to ‘out-tough’ Trump in leaked audio

Leaked audio from a private fundraiser for young Republicans shows U.S. Vice-President JD Vance weighed in on a nearly finalized trade deal between Canada and the United States, casting Prime Minister Mark Carney as someone who tried to play hardball with Washington but was also a ‘very sweet guy.’

Audio of Vance’s remarks was originally provided to The Canadian Press by a source in attendance at the private function in Southampton, N.Y.
