A video is going viral on social media, showing protesters tearing down a barrier that blocked access to land in Kakome, Albania, for the past 22 years.
Dozens of residents, landowners, and citizens gathered on Sunday, demanding an end to restrictions that kept property owners from reaching their own land and limited public access to Kakome Beach.
The protest comes on the same day thousands marched through Tirana, calling for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation and opposing a 5-billion-euro luxury resort planned by Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
Demonstrators chanted “Revolution” and carried banners reading “Motherland is not for sale,” citing concerns over a protected wetland home to flamingos, seals, and sea turtles.
