Ismaël Koné injury: What we know so far about the player's leg

Ismaël Koné, Canada’s national men’s soccer midfielder, will undergo surgery for a broken leg sustained during Canada’s 6-0 victory over Qatar on June 18, according to head coach Jesse Marsch.

Qatar’s Assim Madibo tackled Koné from behind during the first half of the match, causing a stoppage in the game so Koné could be stretchered out of B.C. Stadium to a hospital.

Koné, for his part, took to Instagram to post an update the next day addressing his team, saying he will turn himself ‘into [an] assistant coach to support you from the sideline.’
