AI supercharging online scams across Asia, warns Interpol’s cybercrime chief

Artificial intelligence is enabling cybercriminals to operate at an unprecedented scale, with law enforcement struggling to keep pace as online scams, phishing attacks and digital fraud continue to surge across Asia, says Interpol. The global policing agency's latest cyberthreat assessment found that cybercrime now accounts for more than 30 per cent of all recorded crime in over half of the countries surveyed across Asia and the South Pacific. How are criminals using AI and why are scams becoming harder to detect?
