EU leaders clash over funding for next long-term budget | Morning Report

European leaders are jostling over how best to fund the EU’s next long-term budget – with wealthier nations warning it should not be a blank check. The 27 leaders are meeting in Brussels for a second day after tense talks about negotiations with Russia and how to deal with China.

Kyiv’s Western allies have collectively pledged $4 billion in military aid to Ukraine, said the country’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The new aid packages were announced as NATO defense ministers and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group gathered in Brussels.

A Russian drone attack killed one crewmember of a Panama-flagged ship in the Black Sea and wounded two more, a Ukrainian deputy prime minister said on Friday. At least six people were wounded in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Kharkiv region overnight into Friday.
