Myanmar earthquake body urges increased building inspections to improve safety

An earthquake monitoring body has called on authorities in Myanmar's Yangon to step up building inspections, following a series of unusual aftershocks triggered by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake that struck the country's largest city in May. The call comes as Myanmar ramps up disaster preparedness efforts nationwide, more than a year after a devastating earthquake in Mandalay killed more than 3,800 people in March last year.
