Durban Protests | KZN govt's response to foreign national displacements

Durban's eThekwini Municipality and the Department of Home Affairs are intensifying efforts to deport undocumented foreign nationals. ​

What authorities say is a move from voluntary repatriation to a large-scale deportation - a new tent facility was set up in Durban to speed up the process.

​This is to manage severe overcrowding at the site at Sherwood, where Malawian nationals have been seeking refuge - after fleeing their homes following alleged threats and initimidation.
