eThekwini Municipality allocates new site for migrant processing

eThekwini Municipality and the Home Affairs Department are intensifying efforts to deport undocumented foreign nationals. ​

What authorities say is a move from voluntary repatriation to a large-scale deportation, a new tent facility was set up in Durban to speed up the process.

​This is to manage severe overcrowding at Sherwood Hall, where Malawian nationals have been seeking refuge, after fleeing their homes following alleged threats and intimidation.
