India has achieved another milestone in its journey towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The first Made in India C-295 military transport aircraft has successfully completed its maiden test flight from the Final Assembly Line in Vadodara, Gujarat. Built through a partnership between Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Airbus, it is the first military aircraft to be manufactured by the private sector in India.

The successful test flight marks a significant step in strengthening India's indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and its growing aerospace ecosystem. Of the 56 C-295 aircraft being procured for the Indian Air Force, 40 will be manufactured in India under the Make in India initiative, with this becoming the first of those aircraft to take to the skies.

The achievement underscores India's steady progress from being a defence importer to an emerging hub for advanced military aircraft manufacturing.
