ANC briefs media on local government plan

ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula, has announced that a formal directive will be issued to ANC and SACP members, requiring them to declare within 10 days under which party banner they intend to contest elections.

He warned that failing to respond, while continuing to campaign under both the SACP and the ANC, would result in disciplinary consequences.

Speaking in Johannesburg, Mbalula emphasised that the ANC does not intend to expel its alliance partner, but stressed that dual political campaigning is not allowed.
