#WATCH | Thereafter, the Prime Minister met the President of the Slovak Republic, His Excellency Peter Pellegrini, at the Presidential Palace for talks. The President also hosted a banquet in honour of the Prime Minister. As a special gesture, President Pellegrini conferred the highest state decoration of Slovakia, the Order of the White Double Cross, First Class, upon Prime Minister Nrendra Modi for his exceptional contribution to strengthening India–Slovakia relations. The Prime Minister dedicated the award to the people of India and Slovakia who have contributed to deepening this partnership. The Prime Minister also met His Excellency Richard Raši, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, reaffirming the commitment to further strengthen the relationship between the two democracies.

Let me briefly go over the meetings that were held. Starting with the discussions at the Prime Ministerial level, the two Prime Ministers reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, including the ongoing Ukraine conflict, the situation in West Asia, and India–EU relations, among other issues. They also discussed the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which was concluded earlier this year and has generated new momentum in relations between India and the European Union, as well as with EU member states, including Slovakia: Sibi George, MEA Secretary (West)
