A 47-year-old truck driver will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates' Court after he was arrested for being found in possession of suspected stolen essential infrastructure components. The Free State Tactical Response Team intercepted a truck near Glen, following a tip-off that it was transporting suspected stolen goods to Gauteng.
Police found copper cables visible from torn bags inside the truck and escorted the driver to Parkweg Police Station, where experts from Centlec, Telkom and Eskom assisted with identifying the items. Nine large bags containing essential infrastructure components were seized, including copper cables belonging to Centlec and Telkom. Centlec identified recovered infrastructure worth an estimated three-million-rand, while Telkom confirmed some of its stolen property.
