Free State unveils first paediatric heart lab

Children born with complex heart conditions in the Free State will no longer have to travel hundreds of kilometres to access specialised treatment. Universitas Academic Hospital in Bloemfontein has unveiled a state-of-the-art Paediatric Cardiology Catheterisation Laboratory, the first of its kind in the province. Health authorities say the unit will improve access to life-saving procedures, reduce referrals and strengthen specialist healthcare services for children across the province and beyond.
