Comrades Marathon | More than 20,000 athletes are participating in the 99th edition

It's nearly four hours into the 99th Comrades Marathon uphill run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

Thousands of runners made it through the first cut-off point in Pinetown.

For many athletes, reaching Pinetown is a crucial milestone in their bid to finish the race within the required time.
