Madlanga Commission | Suspended Tshwane CFO seeks to clarify context of WhatsApp chats with Nkosi

WhatsApp communication between suspended City of Tshwane Chief Financial Officer, Gareth Mnisi, and Gauteng Organised Crime Unit Sergeant Fannie Nkosi has come under scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Messages presented before the commission show Mnisi forwarding communication to Nkosi about a meeting involving ActionSA and the EFF regarding a multi-million-rand security tender issued by the Tshwane Metro Police Department in 2024 to protect municipal infrastructure.

Mnisi testified that the message had been sent to him by City of Tshwane Deputy Executive Mayor, Eugene Modise, who had expressed dissatisfaction with the demands made by the two political parties.
