DA announces Geordin Hill-Lewis as Cape Town mayoral candidate

Cape Town Mayor and DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has been elected as the party's mayoral candidate for the city ahead of the November 4th local government elections.

Hill-Lewis has pledged to establish a dedicated Metro Police detective unit for the city.

He says the South African Police Service is failing residents and is not effectively carrying out its duties. He adds that children and parents should feel safe in the city they live in, without fear of shootings or kidnappings on the streets.
