World Cup: More stalls at Lau Pa Sat could operate 24 hours as football fans gather

Singapore's iconic hawker centre Lau Pa Sat is considering extending more stalls to 24-hour operations, as large crowds gather for free live screenings of World Cup matches. Lau Pa Sat is offering free telecasts of all 104 matches. Nine out of more than 80 stalls are already operating 24/7 throughout the 39-day tournament. Hundreds of fans from different communities have been turning up to support their teams, boosting demand for food and late-night dining. Organisers expect attendance to rise further as the tournament progresses and bigger matches take centre stage. Nikhil Khattar reports.
