Following the outbreak of the Korean War, Denmark converted a cargo-passenger ship into a hospital ship to provide medical assistance. After an extensive three-month renovation, the vessel was transformed into a modern floating hospital equipped with 356 beds, four operating rooms, an X-ray facility, and a dental clinic. Its name was Jutlandia.
From 1951 to 1953, Danish medical personnel aboard the Jutlandia were deployed to Korea, where they treated South Korean and United Nations forces. They also cared for Korean civilians and contributed to the rebuilding of the country's medical services. Marking the 75th anniversary of the Jutlandia's departure, we explore the stories hidden within the records of its historic voyages.

한국전쟁 발발 후 의료 지원을 위해 덴마크는 화물·여객선으로 사용되던 배 한 척을 개조했다. 약 3개월에 걸친 대대적인 개조 끝에 이 배는 356개의 병상과 4개의 수술실, X선 촬영실, 치과 등을 갖춘 현대식 병원선으로 재탄생했다. 그 배의 이름은 유틀란디아호다. 유틀란디아호를 타고 한국을 찾은 덴마크 의료진은 1951년부터 1953년까지 파견돼 국군과 유엔군을 치료했을 뿐 아니라 한국 민간인까지 돌보며 의료 재건에도 기여했다. 유틀란디아호 출항 75주년을 맞아 항해 기록 속에 숨은 이야기들을 만나본다.
