2026 FIFA World Cup | Millions around the world count down to World Cup kick-off

The wait of over as millions of global soccer fans await this today's kick off of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Senior South African soccer team, Bafana Bafana taking on Mexico in what is expected to be a spectacular high stake and global soccer showcase, with millions of fans watching from around the world.

It all started almost eight years to the day that Canada, Mexico and USA were appointed co-hosts of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with FIFA confirming that the co-hosts Mexico, will open the biggest-ever edition of the World Cup, 104 matches which will be staged in 16 locations across three countries.

As the official broadcaster, the SABC will bring live this evening's festivities, including the Opening ceremony at 19h30 and the South Africa against Mexico kicking-off at 21h00 on SABC Three and SABC One. Viewers can also stream live on SABC PLUS.COM and follow every match across SABC Radio Stations.
